Dougs raises €50 million to accelerate its full-stack, AI-powered accounting platform

Dougs today announced a €50 million funding round led by existing investor Expedition Growth Capital. The French accounting leader will further invest in agentic accounting and automation as it scales towards €100 million of ARR and 100,000 customers.

LYON, France, October 15, 2026 – Dougs, the technology-led accounting and financial management platform for small businesses, today announced a €50 million investment from Expedition Growth Capital.

Dougs serves more than 50,000 businesses and generates more than €50 million in annual recurring revenue. Having grown 50%+ a year for a decade, the company is targeting €100 million of ARR and 100,000 customers in the coming years, with the ambition of becoming France’s largest chartered accounting business.

Founded by chartered accountants in 2015, Dougs is a technology company delivering regulated accounting and financial management services directly to small businesses. Unlike software providers selling tools to accountants, Dougs owns the client relationship and takes responsibility for the work.

Software economics in a services industry

Dougs’ proprietary technology and automation have enabled gross margins above 80%, in an industry where margins below 50% are typical. A Dougs accountant can serve many times more clients than a typical accountant. The company has been profitable since inception and has funded its growth from its own cash flow to date.

A technology company delivering the service

Dougs has built its technology stack in-house and today employs over one hundred engineers. Over the past decade, it has filed hundreds of thousands of tax returns and financial statements while supporting customers across accounting, legal and financial management.

In doing so, Dougs has built a proprietary record of accounting workflows, customer context, exceptions and professional decisions. That foundation is becoming increasingly valuable as AI changes how professional services are delivered.

From automation to agentic accounting

Dougs has already used automation to transform the economics of accounting. AI is already embedded in Dougs’ accounting production. The company already completes bookkeeping workflows through AI and is developing agentic systems capable of handling an increasing share of accounting production autonomously. The new funding will expand these AI workflows across accounting production. The next milestone is agentically produced financial statements, checked and signed by a chartered accountant.

“Automating most of the bookkeeping was only the starting point. AI lets us go much further and rethink how accounting is actually produced. We built our own agentic platform, with a harness that plugs straight into our tools and encodes our accounting expertise. Our accountants work with it every day, and it’s already running entire stages of production end to end. The next milestone is financial statements generated autonomously, then reviewed and signed off by an accountant. AI does the heavy lifting while our accountants bring the judgement.” said Florent Galland, COO and co-founder of Dougs.

“We are chartered accountants who happen to write our own software. That is the whole point,” said Patrick Maurice, CEO and co-founder of Dougs. “We can automate accounting production because we have done the work ourselves for ten years and know what good looks like. Every improvement in AI models makes our service faster and cheaper, while our regulatory licence and the scale of our client base are very hard to copy. With this round, we will finish automating production and use the time it frees up to get closer to our clients.”

Investing behind the French market

Dougs will use the new capital to accelerate its proprietary AI and automation technology, broaden its platform across accounting, legal and financial management, and reinforce its position in France, including through a network of local partners bringing entrepreneurs onto the platform. France alone represents a €20 billion+ market across accounting and adjacent services, including approximately €1.5 billion in Dougs’ core market today.

“Artificial intelligence is radically transforming the services sector, but its impact is all the greater when underpinned by deep domain expertise. Dougs is a rare example of this fusion in the accountancy industry. The company is mastering the optimal mix of deterministic code, frontier AI and certified professionals to deliver industry leading service and value to a rapidly growing base of 50,000 customers. We are convinced that this combination makes it one of the best-positioned players to shape the next generation of accountancy in Europe,” says Oliver Thomas, managing partner at Expedition Growth Capital.
